Badlands
In collaboration with Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics
The Badlands are located just a few meters away from where the jet turbines of airplanes crowded with tourists. More than a century ago, this land was wilderness, full of stagnant water and malaria-carrying mosquitoes. In this project, Tomeu Coll has captured these unfathomable and almost unreal areas of his island, Majorca, through a selection of photographs that show the swampy lands of his village and the people who inhabit it. “Badlands” came into being when the author decided to try and understand the world from the place where he was standing––on an island.
