Urtümliches Bild
Dreamlike images are the protagonists of Urtümliches Bild. The author turns her attention to these internal images, starting from the creation of an archive of dreams from the months of confinement and told by people from all over the planet. She encoded them through an automatic learning algorithm – trained to produce images based on textual input.The images, imperfect, surreal, devoid of rules of representation and perspective, are the result of the combination of archives and datasets of our world.
Silvia Bigi (1985, Ravenna, Italy) graduated in Visual Art at the University of Bologna. Through the use of different languages – photography, installation, sculpture, sound, video, textile – her research explores the relationship between individual and collective memories as well as the threshold between reality and real.
