Memory diamonds are real diamonds made with the ashes of a deceased loved one. There are different companies that specialize in producing such gems. Reiner Riedler has gathered images from the private archives of five people who have transformed the mortal remains of their loved ones into diamonds that they can wear.
This project explores the relationship between sentimental and material value, between the eternal and the ephemeral, the fog of memory and the clarity of karats.
