Andrea Frazzetta

Turni di vita o di morte (Life or death shifts)

As coronavirus tore through northern Italy, hospitals became the front lines in a grueling war.
Hospitals expanded intensive-care capacity, lined entire wards with ventilators and crowded corridors with oxygen tanks and beds. The doctors, nurses, paramedics and volunteers had little choice but to soldier through day and night with little rest. A series of portraits taken by Andrea Frazzetta shows the effort, commitment, passion and moments of discouragement. In a word, everyday life.

Andrea Frazzetta (1977, Lecce, Italy) is a documentary photographer, contributor to The New York Times Magazine and National Geographic. He has worked in more than 50 countries around the world.
